'Europe’s Leading Start-up Hubs 2024' Special Report by the Financial Times and Statista

Europe’s Leading Start-Up Hubs 2024 is a ranking of the top centres for founders offering incubator and/or accelerator programmes to people who want to build or grow a company. In total, 125 such hubs are recognised in this inaugural ranking.

To identify the leading hubs, a registration and survey process was conducted. Several elements were considered for the evaluation, with the main criterion being the assessment of the respective start-up hub by alumni who participated in at least one incubator or accelerator programme run by the respective hub.

In addition, the recommendations of external experts, such as investors (business angels, representatives of venture capital firms), entrepreneurs and academics were included. On top of that, the most successful start-ups coming out of a hub were examined.

After months of research, involving public calls for participation, the launching of surveys among alumni and peers, as well as considerable desk research, the 125 best companies for accelerator and incubator programmes (out of several thousand) in Europe were identified – and it was through this process that Hatch was recognised.

Hatch's Track Record

To be recognised from a pool of thousands is a huge privilege, and a credit to our incredible team, all of whom are committed to supporting founders that are often underrepresented in entrepreneurship to launch and grow successful, impactful businesses.

It’s great to see reports like this recognising the role of start-up hubs in nurturing talent and innovation across an international landscape.

Hatch staff and supporters at ten year anniversary event

We want to thank everyone who has invested in the Hatch community over the last decade, enabling us to provide such a high quality experience to entrepreneurs looking to launch and scale in the UK. To date we’ve supported over 7,800 people through our programmes and events, the vast majority of whom were women or from an ethnic minority background.

We support innovators tackling some of the world’s hardest problems: Hatch graduates have founded an award-winning medical tech company revolutionising radiology; an emission-free parcel delivery firm; and an ethical coffee chain where 100% of the profits go to supporting people experiencing homelessness.

"Very excited to see Hatch in the top 50 of the Financial Times Start-up Hubs in Europe. With over 700 incubators and accelerators in the UK alone, and thousands more across Europe, this feels very special. Big shout out to all the amazing partners we get to work with every year! We will continue to hustle hard to democratise entrepreneurship here in the UK. Big thank you also to the amazing team at Hatch Enterprise"
