The Application Process

Are you ready to take the next step on your entrepreneurial journey? Read our step-by-step guide below, which will walk you through the application process and explain what to expect. 

  1. The application form is your opportunity to tell us about you and your business idea or business. The form takes an average of 20-30 minutes to complete. If you need support filling out the application form, for example, transcribing your answers, please email programmes@hatchenterprise.org. 
  2. Some general guidance on filling in your application:
    -Be specific and use real numbers/examples where possible
    -Keep sentences clear and concise
    -Make sure each point directly relates to the question
    -Aim for quality over quantity – better to be brief and clear than lengthy and vague. 
  3. If you would like to read through the questions before getting started, you can find our list of questions below 
  4. Short on time? You don’t have to complete this form in one go, you can start, close it, and then return later, provided you use the same browser and device. Your answers will be stored in your browser’s storage for 15 days. We suggest bookmarking your application form if you plan on doing this.
  5. Once you have completed your application, we will send you a confirmation email letting you know it is with us. 
  6. Our application processing times vary depending on when you apply. You can expect an answer anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, but rest assured we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. 
  7. If your initial application is successful, you will receive an invitation to complete part two of the application process. This section involves answering a series of questions through the Video Ask portal or via a Google Meet call. We will send you the interview questions beforehand so you can prepare as best as possible.

    The question and answer section of your application is not a test. We just want to get to know you and your business idea better.

  8. After the application deadline, we’ll email you to let you know if you have secured a place on the programme.
  9. If the programme isn’t suitable for you at this stage in your journey, our team will guide you towards other opportunities or resources that better meet your needs.

  •  Why are you applying to the programme? What are you struggling with the most?
  • Are you interested in applying for a bursary to cover the cost of the programme?
  • Would you like to share any accessibility needs that we can support you with?
  • Some of our programmes are reserved for or prioritise applications from those from backgrounds that are underrepresented in entrepreneurship. The following questions are optional but will help us in our selection process.

  • Do you consider yourself to be Disabled or neurodivergent?
  • Please feel free to share any details about your Disability or neurodivergence that would help us better support you throughout the programme. Only share what you’re comfortable with.

  • Do you consider yourself underrepresented in entrepreneurship? While we collect specific demographic data for reporting purposes, we recognise that numerous factors and intersectionalities may not be captured in these categories; including socioeconomic background, caregiving responsibilities, sexuality, among others.  Please include any information you feel is relevant to share.
