Meet Sherine, the Digital Angel!

My name is Sherine and my background is IT. I studied it a uni and then I went into teaching IT in schools, but it wasn’t for me. My business is kind of linked to IT, but it’s more working with the elderly and helping them to get online and helping them with any digital skills they need.

It more or less all started with my mum. She used to constantly, ask me very basic questions and I would tell her then she’d ring me again, and so, you know it caused a bit of friction between us and I realised there might be a market to help people of that generation, the older generation in a more efficient way.

I thought of the idea in about September, but I started running it in January so it’s very new but it’s still very early stages.

What are some of the struggles you’ve run into along the way?

To be honest there are quite a few struggles, the main one being you know, how can I scale this business. At first it was just going to be me doing it, but I was thinking, can this be a sustainable business? If it’s just me how can I reach all of those older people and how I’m going to contact them because I can’t get them online. But I have to find them somehow – this group of people that I want to help. I would say they’re the main challenges I’ve came across.

What’s the best thing about running your own business?

If you could have any enterprise related superpower, what would it be?

Probably just bags and bags of confidence, that whatever I decide to do just go along with it, don’t procrastinate, just get on with it – I think that’s yeah.

Where do you see your business in 5 years time?

I would like to see it just having a whole network of tech savvy old people just going out there and making a difference to all the elderly that are stubborn or that want to learn but can’t for whatever reason and for a big like harem of elderly just going out there and maybe even taking over the tech world. Just get them really into it because only a few are really into it and unfortunately a lot of things are technology based now so, they’ve got to do it, but I want them to do it not because they have to but because they want to.
