UNFINISHED
BUSINESS

The campaign for

Inclusive
Entrepreneurship.

BE PART OF
THE CHANGE

For over a decade, we’ve supported
over 10,000 beneficiaries to
make game-changing impact…

to enhance their lives, grow their businesses, create jobs, transform communities and build a fairer, more resilient economy.

But it’s UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

Today too many entrepreneurs
still face locked doors.
Too many are still overlooked.
And too much talent is going unrealised.

Join our campaign for inclusive entrepreneurship, and together we can replace today’s barriers with tomorrow’s opportunities.

In 2025 a quarter (23%) of founders on
our programmes increased their staff number.

In 2025 Hatch supported founders increased
their revenues by 46% from £2.1m to £3.1m.

78% of the businesses we support help
deliver UN Sustainability Development Goals.

37% of the businesses we support are operating
outside of London – developing local growth.

At Hatch Enterprise we are driven by a single,
simple belief…

TALENT SHOULD BE ENOUGH.

Our purpose is to make sure it is.
To ensure that enterprise isn’t just for the few, but is an accessible pathway to meaningful employment for anyone with the vision, determination and drive to create a successful business.

The support we provide is unique.
We don’t just show up once a business is already gaining momentum.
We’re there from the crucial starting point, when so many underrepresented entrepreneurs lack self-confidence.

We empower our beneficiaries with the tools to grow unique businesses that make the UK socially, culturally and economically richer.

But demand for the support we offer is growing every year and every name on our waiting list is a missed opportunity.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS,

our 2029 Campaign for Inclusive Entrepreneurship, seeks to change that.
With the support of visionary partners we will turn that wait into action and potential into progress through an ambitious programme that:

  • Deepens and enhances existing programmes of support.
  • Extends vital early journey funding.
  • Introduces a new on-demand, high-quality development programme.
  • Drives forward system change to unlock the full potential of underrepresented founders.

Warmest wishes, Rebekah Sun, CEO, Hatch Enterprise

HATCH ENTERPRISE SPARKED MY ENTREPRENEURIAL CONFIDENCE. NOW I’M USING THAT TO LIFT OTHERS HIGHER.

Akil Hunte is Chair of NRG Lawyers, a not-for-profit that seeks to boost social mobility in the legal industry by improving access opportunities for non-Russell Group graduates. Akil participated in the Hatch Incubator programme to support him in taking NRG Lawyers to the next level…

I first dreamed of being a lawyer at primary school, but I didn’t have any touchpoints. I just knew that I wanted to use my voice for good, and landmark cases like Stephen Lawrence’s sharpened that conviction.

Achieving my goals wasn’t the smoothest journey. I underperformed at schoolbut fought hard and carved out a career as a solicitor in the music and intellectual property sectors.

I was proud of what I’d achieved, but creating something that would break down barriers and spark opportunity was still a huge drive. I wanted to inspire people facing the same barriers I had. I had the vision, but I didn’t yet have the tools.

JOINING THE HATCH INCUBATOR IN 2024 CHANGED EVERYTHING.

Until I took part in the programme my sense of worth had been rooted in my role as a lawyer. But Hatch unlocked a new level of belief. I learned to solidify my vision, make decisions with conviction, and build my business with clear intention.

Today I’ve used those skills to carve out a role as an international speaker, lawyer and social entrepreneur.

Using my legal experience and growing entrepreneurial drive, I’m working to open up pathways for others like me, who have never seen themselves represented – to succeed.

How we make a difference

Impact through

innovative support.

We’re there at the hardest moment – the beginning. When others wait for proof, we show up first. And we stay for the whole journey.

Our bespoke support gives those without access to traditional networks the knowledge, funding and tools to break through barriers and succeed. Through mentoring, expert masterclasses, peer collaboration and real-world opportunities, we help transform possibility into progress and potential into game-changing performance. We challenge and redress inequality in the current ecosystem by delivering impact at three levels:

Individual

We empower our beneficiaries with the know-how, skills, funding and peer networks to overcome systemic barriers and make a success of their businesses. We know entrepreneurship can be lonely, so we have built support that fosters collaboration and collective growth.

Community

We curate the conditions for community success. Our founders drive positive ripple effects by creating jobs, addressing local challenges, investing in local talent, and instilling confidence in overlooked entrepreneurs who become role models for the next generation

Systems Change

Overlooked entrepreneurs are social innovators. We work with our beneficiaries to share their lived experience, guiding us into a future where everybody can be served by innovation.

Supporting 2,000 underrepresented founders to grow their businesses could generate an estimated

£50,000,000

in economic value within 18 months

CARER LOVE IS DEEPLY PERSONAL TO ME. IT WAS BORN FROM MY LIVED EXPERIENCE AS AN UNPAID CARER.

After my mother passed away, I carried not only grief but also a clear sense of purpose. I knew I wanted to help others walking the same path I had walked.

I understood the emotional weight, the isolation, and the quiet strength ofunpaid carers because I had lived it. Hatch helped me stretch that vision. It guided me in shaping Carer Love into a wellbeing service that can support the many different types of unpaid carers, each with their own realities and needs. The programme helped me recognise the value of my voice. Not just as someone with lived experience, but as someone who can serve, advocate, and build for others.

Brilliant founders.
Restricted pathways.

CHANGE CAN’T WAIT.

Inclusive, interactive, guided business education is pivotal to success for those without access to traditional networks. Yet entrepreneurship has yet to be adequately recognised or nurtured as a viable route for employment for underrepresented groups.

This matters.
Because entrepreneurship isn’t just a ‘nice to have’.

For those underserved in our economy, it is increasingly the only viable route into employment despite entrepreneneurship offering individuals who might otherwise have encountered barriers in the workplace to custom build working environments and create their own conditions for success.

We know that there is abundant entrepreneurial talent and ambition amongst underrepresented communities.

We see it every day.

The talent is there.
The support isn’t.

That’s why this campaign is so vital.

The needs the system keeps ignoring

and the entrepreneurs paying the price.

Disabled and neurodivergent people

A quarter (25%) of entrepreneurs are disabled or neurodiverse.
Meanwhile a staggering 33% of disabled entrepreneurs start a business out of necessity rather than choice, often with limited preparation.

Women

Nearly half (49%) of women start their businesses to balance the demands of life and work.
Of the UK’s multi-billion pound venture capital funding, female entrepreneurs routinely receive less than a 2% share of the investments made each year.

Ethnic minority groups

Since 2002 ethnic minority groups have shown consistently higher startup activity than non-minority groups.
However, these businesses are less likely to grow into mature enterprises due to lack of access to capital, networks and sustained
support.

Young People

Three in five (62%) of young people believe that it has become more difficult to find a job than ten years ago, with youth unemployment rates at their highest in almost a decade.
Meanwhile almost 60% of young people say they currently own, or are interested in owning a business.

Clearing the waiting list could create an estimated

2,000

new jobs within 18 months.

HOW WE WILL AMPLIFY OUR IMPACT

Over the next three years we’ll respond to increasing societal and economic need by taking a set of focused actions that will grow our impact across four key areas:

Deepening on-the-ground impact.

We will use over a decade of knowledge to build ever more imaginative,
in-depth programmes and targeted interventions.

Through these we will equip a minimum of 225 underrepresented
founders per year with the skills, funding, networks and confidence to break through barriers and succeed.

Catalysing growth beyond our programmes.

For the diverse founders we work with, even modest funding can unlock
major opportunities. That’s why we’ll deepen investment in The Hatch Fund.

By extending The Hatch Fund, we  will ensure that more Hatch graduates receive a flexible grant to power their next steps to sustainable success – whether that’s product development, marketing or essential early-stage costs.

Grants through The Hatch Fund will build resilience, fuel innovation and ensure equitable access to entrepreneurial success.

Digital support without limits.

The people who could benefit most are the ones most likely to slip through the net.

That’s why a core pillar of our Campaign is a game-changing new digital
offering. Built from the best of our session-based learning and shaped by
our expert teams.

Over the next three years, it will open the door to entrepreneurial
support for more than 1,000 additional founders: parents, carers, low-income entrepreneurs or people managing disabilities, neurodiversity or long-term conditions.

Because talent shouldn’t have to fit into a timetable to get the chance it deserves.

Smarter systems, stronger advocacy.

We’re investing in smarter tools to support founders better and achieve an
equitable entrepreneurial landscape faster.

New cutting-edge technology integrations will help us understand each
entrepreneur’s journey in real time – what they need, when they need it
and how best to help. It means fewer barriers, faster responses and ever
more useful support.

This is about equipping the sector and policymakers with insights to
build a fairer entrepreneurial ecosystem with urgency it deserves.

To deliver our next ambitious plan we need a coalition of visionary changemakers to join us; entrepreneurs, CSR teams, social enterprises, charities, trusts, investors, policymakers and community organisations – who refuse to accept a system that leaves talent behind.
