My name is Samuel, I’m a graphic designer, and I’m freelance under the company name We Are Grounded. We offer branding and communications services, and we’ve been operating for about two years now.
I’ve always had a passion for art, design, the creative field, so it just kind of made sense. I was passionate about drawing and that naturally progressed into graphic design.
The aim is that we want to be more than just a design business, so I’m working towards being a creative hub for creative people, so the idea is that within five years we’ll have a creative hub where social enterprises can approach us and we’ll be able to provide designers or creative people to help them progress there business, so that’s where my passion is, that’s what we’re working towards.
What is the best thing about starting We Are Grounded?
The best thing is the flexibility. Because I’m involved in a number of different other projects and various things and just that flexibility that you know, working for yourself brings. Having the flexibility to juggle business with other things, I just love that, and also it’s the reward as well, you know, from thinking of an idea to actually implementing and seeing results.
What are some of the struggles?
A number of different challenges I guess. One of the challenges so far is spending time on marketing and getting myself out there you know. When you’re running a design business, or a service based business, you can focus so much time on providing a service that you don’t necessarily assign time to market yourself, or get yourself out there.
If you could have any enterprise related super power what would it be?
Enterprise related super power? I guess, I’m not sure if it’s enterprise related, but it would be mind reading, so I’d know exactly what my client wants and how to go about doing it.
